Chevrolet Colorado Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on Chevrolet Colorado?
A: The replacement of a Power Steering Pump requires removal of the air cleaner assembly alongside the Drive Belt along with the Power Steering Pump pulley. Disconnect the harness clip from the pump body and position a drain pan under the vehicle. First disconnect power steering pressure hoses from the pump and break loose its mounting bolts before removing it from the vehicle. After setting the Power Steering Pump into position you must install its mounting bolts until they reach a torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). After draining the system you should attach and tighten the power steering pressure hoses to a torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Then remove the drain pan. The procedure ends with connecting the oil pressure sensor harness clip while installing the Power Steering Pump pulley and Drive Belt before putting on the air cleaner assembly. Terminating the power steering system bleed procedure results in leak and failure inspection.
