How to replace the Upper Steering Column Bearing on Chevrolet Express 2500?

To replace the intermediate steering shaft bearing, you need to get the wheels straight ahead and the Steering Column in the lock status in order not to cause damage to the sir coil assembly. Begins by rolling the lower end of the Steering Column down and installing the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J42640) into the Steering Column lower access hole. Take out the lower intermediate shaft and remove the nuts for the Power Steering Reservoir and place the reservoir out of the way. Then, take out the Cruise Control Module mounting nuts and place the module off if present. Proceed to the removal of the charged air cooler, intermediate shaft seal to the cowl mounting screws. Pull down the intermediate shaft seal and remove the intermediate shaft to intermediate shaft bearing retaining bolt, take off the bearing bracket retaining nuts and lower intermediate shaft brace retaining nut. Switch off the intermediate shaft bearing from the studs on the cowl and detach it off the upper end of the intermediate shaft and before removing the intermediate shaft bearing and the intermediate shaft seal. To install, begin by installing the intermediate shaft seal, followed by installing the middle shaft bearing to the upper middle shaft and to the studs on the cowl. Install the intermediate shaft bearing lower brace retaining nut and tighten to 30 n.m (22 lb ft), and the intermediate shaft bearing bracket retaining nuts - tighten to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Then lock the upper intermediate shaft to the intermediate shaft bearing retaining bolt with the 30 n.m (22 lb ft), then install the intermediate shaft seal upper retaining screws with a 2 n.m (18 lb in) torque. Relocate the Cruise Control Module and attach it using the mounting nuts at 5 n.m (44 lb in). Lastly, reposition the Power Steering Reservoir and mount its nuts at 11 n.m (97 lb in), and then install the lower intermediate shaft and remove the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) from the Steering Column lower access hole.
