Chevrolet Express 3500 Drive Belt Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the accessory drive belt on Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: Begin the accessory Drive Belt replacement by taking away the air cleaner assembly followed by the retaining bolt on the coolant recovery reservoir then place the reservoir aside. A breaker bar connected to a hex-head socket should be used to turn the Drive Belt tensioner counterclockwise for belt tension reduction. Uninstall the belt from its positions on the pulleys and the Drive Belt tensioner before you release tension from the Drive Belt tensioner at a steady pace. You need to clean all pulleys after you remove their breaker bar along with the socket from the tensioner bolt. When installing a new belt users must first guide it through all pulleys without the idler but after that they must position the breaker bar fitted with hex-head socket on the belt tensioner bolt and push it clockwise until sufficient tension is reached. Insert the Drive Belt under the idler pulley before slowly eliminating tension from the belt tensioner using the breaker bar and socket on the tensioner bolt. Check that the Drive Belt is correctly positioned and align it properly, then position the coolant recovery reservoir and tighten the retaining bolt to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Finish the procedure by reinstalling the air cleaner assembly.
