Chevrolet HHR Pressure Plate Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the pressure plate, clutch drive plate, and clutch driven plate on Chevrolet HHR?
A: The first step for Pressure Plate and clutch drive plate and clutch driven plate servicing begins with transmission removal. Start by rotating the clutch cover bolts in small intervals until spring tension disappears before you can remove the clutch cover with the Clutch Disc attached. The clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) should support the clutch cover to the Flywheel assembly by matching the heavy side of the assembly with the light side of the clutch cover. You should install the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts by using the tightening sequence and torque them to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). The technician needs to take out clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) after the procedure. Any surplus lubricant on the input shaft splines should be avoided as it can lead to Clutch Disc contamination which produces unacceptable shudder. The transmission needs an installation process which includes using saturn p/n 21005995 or equivalent to lubricate the bearing's inside diameter. Bleeding the hydraulic system must be followed by the establishment of negative Battery Cable connection.
