  A: The replacement of the floor shift control cable begins by raising and supporting the vehicle. You must remove the Shift Cable retaining nut that is found next to the Exhaust Heat Shield before detaching the Shift Cable from the transmission cable bracket. Members must first lower the vehicle then remove the Shift Cable from the park/neutral position switch assembly. Proceed by taking out the console while disconnecting the Shift Cable from both the shift control assembly. Take the driver side front carpet to the side while removing the grommet from the Floor Pan. Wedge the cable end into the driver floor opening to free it from the vehicle compartment. The new cable needs to be inserted into the driver floor opening while the grommet needs installation at the floor opening's surface. Install the driver side front carpet afterward you should connect the Shift Cable to the shift control assembly. The first step is to mount the console before connecting the Shift Cable to both the park/neutral position switch and transmission cable bracket. Maintain a raised vehicle position to install the Shift Cable retaining nut near the Exhaust Heat Shield while tightening it to reach 10 n.m (89 lb in).
