    Service and repair of the front Crankshaft seal starts with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. After disconnecting the negative Battery Cable proceed by removing the Crankshaft pulley together with the Timing Belt. The front oil seal of the Crankshaft should be pried out by using a tape-wrapped screwdriver tip to avoid Crankshaft damage. Apply chassis grease gm p/n 1051344 or an equivalent to the new front oil seal of the Crankshaft for installation. A hammer combined with Crankshaft front seal installer (J 37747) should be used to carefully drive the Crankshaft front oil seal until it meets the oil seal retainer front edge on the Crankshaft surface. You must first install the Timing Belt and Crankshaft pulley followed by your reinstallation of the negative Battery Cable and a proper 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) tightness on the nut. Finally, start the engine.
