How to replace the IP dimmer switch on Chevrolet Prizm?

Begin dimmer switch replacement by disassembling both the IP and instrument knob and the IP dimmer switch nut . Start by using a taped flat bladed tool to carefully separate the 4 retaining clips from the lamp dimmer switch/remote control rearview mirror switch trim plate while releasing them. At this point disconnect the dimmer switch electrical connector and pull the dimmer switch free from the vehicle. Mount the IP lamp dimmer switch to the lamp dimmer switch/remote control rearview mirror switch trim plate and apply the retaining nut before tightening the nut to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Connect the dimmer switch electrical connector and mount the dimmer switch/remote control rearview mirror switch trim plate to the I/P using caution to assure complete engagement of all 4 retaining clips. Install the dimmer switch knob onto the dimmer switch as the final step.
