Chevrolet Prizm Sway Bar Link Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front sway bar link on Chevrolet Prizm?
A: Service and repair operations on sway bar links in vehicle front assemblies start with vehicle elevation and support prior to removal of front wheels and tires. Detach both the tire and wheel from the front of the vehicle. Severing the Sway Bar Link from the lower Control Arm requires undoing the nut before doing the same to the Sway Bar Link along with the sway bar. Applications of the Sway Bar Link require that the vehicle's weight should rest on the tires during the nut-tightening process. Set the Sway Bar Link on the sway bar and fasten it with the nut without over-tightening. The Sway Bar Link needs to be placed onto the lower Control Arm before tightening the nut. After reinstalling the front tire assembly together with the wheel the hoisted vehicle must be lowered off the frame contact point toward a drive-on lift or alignment rack. Stabilize the suspension by doing three pushing maneuvers on the front bumper. Tighten the nut through the sway bar to the link at 44 nm using a 5 mm hex wrench on the upper link stud. You must employ the 5 mm hex wrench to fasten the Control Arm link nut at the specified torque reading of 44 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
