How to service the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Chevrolet Silverado 2500?

For powertrain control module (PCM) servicing the servicing options include replacing the unit or programming electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM). Apply the right component for replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable first then taking off the harness ground clip from pcm cover (if equipped with RPO NYS) and releasing pcm cover mounting tabs and removing the cover. Disconnect the pcm electrical connectors by first loosening their bolts with the ignition turned off to avoid internal harm. Disconnect the faulty pcm by removing its spring latch then tabs. Install the unit by using the mounting tabs to secure the spring latch while connecting the electrical connectors which should be tightened to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Install the pcm cover along with a harness ground clip if rpo nys is present before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and performing pcm programming when needed. Follow the procedures to learn the ckp system variation and reset the engine oil life monitor if the reset is required.
