Chevrolet SSR Engine Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right engine mount on Chevrolet SSR?
A: The right Engine Mount replacement starts by lifting the vehicle and implementing support followed by removal of the front wheel assembly resulting in the extraction of the shock module. First, disconnect the lower mounting nuts from the frame bracket of the Engine Mount then remove the mounting bolts linking the upper bracket to the engine block bracket. After removing the three retaining bolts from the frame Engine Mount Bracket install a pole jack beneath the Oil Pan but place a block of wood in between them. To raise the engine a distance of 2 1/4 inches from the Oil Pan base to the transmission support crossmember position, push the engine towards the left frame side at that front edge. First remove the Engine Mount frame bracket from the frame and pull out the Engine Mount assembly with the upper Engine Mount Bracket while separating the Engine Mount from the upper bracket and discard any damaged Engine Mount Bracket spacer. After Engine Mount Bracket spacer replacement you should reinstall it while applying torques of 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) to the spacer bolts. After placing the cut-out side of the Engine Mount shield toward the outer side of the engine install the mount between the upper bracket before securing nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Position the Engine Mount onto the upper Engine Mount Bracket installed on the engine before securing the bracket bolts tightly to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Next, mount the Engine Mount frame bracket onto the frame structure while using retaining bolts at 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Insert the engine to the right side of the frame and add the left side Engine Mount frame bracket with its retaining bolts secured at 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Use pole jack tools to lower the engine until the mount studs match frame bracket holes while removing both tools including wood support. Take the Engine Mount nuts to 50 nm torque before rehanging the shock module and returning the front tire and wheels onto the vehicle and completing its descent.
