Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Wheel Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) on a 2WD on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A: To repair the Wheel Speed Sensor on a vehicle with two-wheel drive you must first lift the vehicle and secure it afterward take off the tire then wheel and lastly the brake rotor. Unthread the wss mounting bolt and take out the sensor only by pushing it directly through the bore to stay away from harming the sensor shell. Separate the wss from its assembly and take off the wss mounting clips from the knuckle, upper Control Arm and frame attachment point to disconnect the wss electrical connector. Feed the wss into the hub/bearing assembly area and mount it with the bolt. Torque the bolt to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) as installation progress. Place the wss mounting clips back on the knuckle, upper Control Arm and frame while connecting the wss electrical cable to its end. Complete the installation by putting back the brake rotor and wheel assembly then execute the diagnostic system check - abs.
