Before attempting to replace the steering gear crossmember at the front with a new one, first raise and support the vehicle. Take out the engine shield mounting bolts and remove the engine shield. Then remove the rear lower
Control Arm Bracket to frame mounting bolts, and the steering gear cross member mounting bolts to disconnect the steering gear cross member. For installation, first put your steering gear crossmember in place, and remember the fastener notice in service precautions. Secure the steering gear crossmember mounting bolts to a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft), then attach the rear lower Control Arm Bracket to frame mounting bolts, attach the rear lower Control Arm Bracket to frame mounting bolts to 240 n.m (177 lb ft). Replace the engine shield and its mounting bolts and tighten the bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and then lower the vehicle.
