Chevrolet Trailblazer Wheel Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear wheel speed sensor on Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Before working on the wheel speed sensor you must lift the vehicle up. Unplug the wiring harness before you unscrew and take out the wheel speed sensor retaining bolt and sensor from its mounting place. You must clean both the sensor as well as its boss before installation. Put a tiny amount of axle lube inside the sensor boss hole to smooth the seal movement. Press the wheel speed sensor evenly into place until it sits flat against the sensor boss surface. Press the wheel speed sensor into bolt hole place then fasten the wheel speed sensor retaining bolt at 13 N.m with 115 lb in torque. Plug in the sensor electrical connector and let the vehicle return to the ground. Start the engine and let it run with idle speed to test if the ABS and traction control indicators stay lit. Drive the vehicle only when repair diagnoses are complete because damaged and improperly connected wheel speed sensors require professional service. Run tests to find the problem when the lamp lighting up persists. Choose a road that feels flat and clean with no traffic and only basic items standing in the path to drive the vehicle at 16 km/h or above for 5 seconds straight. After stopping analyze if either the ABS indicator or traction assist indicator lights up at night; take your car to its basic ABS diagnostic.
