GMC Canyon Engine Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left engine mount on GMC Canyon?
A: A vehicle lift and supporting system should be used to access the left Engine Mount replacement. The first step requires removal of engine shield along with lower intermediate Steering Shaft when present. After supporting the engine with a jack stand and wood block workers should remove the through bolt which secures the mount-to-frame bracket that needs replacement and should also loosen the through bolt connecting to the right side. The heater pipe bracket bolt must be removed from the Engine Mount before raising the engine with the jack stand to enable a side-to-side tilting movement. Work by unboltting the Engine Mount brackets after which remove the Engine Mount while optionally moving it into specific positions. When mounting the new engine component start by positioning it and performing required articulations followed by bolting the parts starting from position while maintaining alignment. Lower the engine following bolt tightening to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs. Before putting in the Engine Mount-to-frame bracket through bolt and securing both fasteners to 85 Nm (63 ft. Lbs.). Replace the engine coolant pipe bracket bolt while you take away the jack stand before returning the lower intermediate Steering Shaft to its position. You should first replace the engine shield (if applicable) before installing the wheel assembly and tire and then return the vehicle to the ground.
