The process begins with performing brake release and vehicle lift before proceeding to change the right rear Parking Brake Cable. First detach the adjusting nut from the park brake before removing the front park brake cable and right park brake cable from the equalizer. The right park brake cable on short wheelbase vehicles should be detached from the left frame rail retainer and the right park brake cable retaining bolt must be removed. During the install of long wheelbase vehicles remove both elements: the right park brake cable from its frame rail retainer and the retaining bolt securing the park brake cable.
