GMC Jimmy Engine Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left engine mount on GMC Jimmy?
A: The replacement of the left Engine Mount starts with raising the vehicle and removing underbody shields if installed. The technicians should remove both the through-bolt and the nut which secure the Engine Mount on the side of replacement. A jack should be positioned on the square tab at the engine block's rear side to elevate the engine block so the mount can be removed. Acceleration of the Starter enables access to the square tab positioned on the right-hand side of the mount. Begin by removing the bolts holding the Engine Mount frame bracket and bracket and finally the bolts attaching the Engine Mount to the engine. You should remove both the Engine Mount and its attached shield from the system. The installation requires assembling the Engine Mount with the shield and one bolt before safely attaching them to the engine. Tighten bolts on the Engine Mount to the engine blocks at 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.). Next, install the Engine Mount frame bracket and fix its bolts at 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Lower the engine subsequently use the jack to remove it while you install the through-bolts of the Engine Mount and tighten them to 74 nm (55 ft. Lbs.) before installing the nuts and securing them at 63 nm (46 ft. Lbs.). In case the Starter was removed, reinstallation is required before lowering the vehicle to the ground.
