GMC Savana 1500 Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on GMC Savana 1500?
A: Start by turning OFF the ignition before you remove the engine cover when you replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor. Begin by draining the coolant until the ECT sensor level is reached. Disconnect the electrical connector before you remove the ECT sensor with care. Before sensor installation apply sealer GM P/N 9985253 or equivalent to the threads and tighten the sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). After installing the ECT sensor harness connector you should move on to add cooling system fluid before securing the engine cover. Rigorous care must be taken during coolant sensor handling because any damage will impact how the fuel control system operates.
