Begin the repair by disconnecting electrical connectors from the switch then removing the bolts which attach the park/neutral position switch to the transmission before pulling the switch off the manual shaft. The manual shaft needs file treatment to remove any burrs before attempting switch removal. When adding the switch to the manual shaft position the hub's flats next to the shaft's flats while pushing the switch along the shaft until it reaches transmission boss contact. The introduction of a brand new park/neutral position switch includes a positive assurance bracket which renders the neutral position adjustment tool unnecessary. First secure the switch to the transmission using two bolts until they meet finger tight resistance.
