How to replace the rear door striker on a Crew Cab on GMC Sierra 1500?

Starting the replacement of a Crew Cab rear door striker requires stripping the lower bolt from its position. Rotate the striker along with any equipped spacers by loosening the upper bolt until it separates from the lower bolt hole. Place the lower striker bolt then secure it enough to keep the backing plate stable. The next step requires removal of both the upper striker bolt and the spacer when present and the striker. Begin the installation process by adding the striker and spacer when they are present before putting in the upper striker bolt. You must adjust the lower striker bolt to achieve proper alignment between the upper threaded hole of the striker backing plate. Begin by removing the lower bolt then turn the striker and any fitted spacer to achieve proper alignment of the lower threaded hole on the striker backing plate. The vehicle needs to be protected from damage during fastening operations. Despite that, tighten both striker bolts to 24 Nm (18 lb ft).
