The starting process to change the Drive Belt on 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines begins with loosening the clamps on the
Throttle Body air cleaner outlet duct and maf/iat sensor and afterward disconnecting the inlet hose clip from the outlet duct before removing the air cleaner outlet duct. Apply a hex-head socket on the Drive Belt tensioner bolt using a breaker bar to turn it clockwise until the belt tension drops. Afterwards, remove the belt from its pulley positions and Drive Belt tensioner before gently letting go of the tension from the belt. Before installing the new Drive Belt you must clean and inspect the belt surfaces of all the pulleys except the idler pulley. Reinsert the breaker bar featuring the hex-head socket attached to the belt tensioner bolt and turn it clockwise to decrease tension before putting the Drive Belt under the idler pulley followed by releasing the tension at a slow pace. After detaching the breaker bar and socket users should verify Drive Belt alignment while directing the Throttle Body arrow to match the Throttle Body attaching stud before reattaching the air cleaner outlet duct. Screw the radiator inlet hose clip onto the outlet duct after completing clamp installation at both the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor places with 4 nm (35 inch lbs.) torque.
