The process of replacing the 2ml70 automatic transmission range selector lever cable begins by setting the Steering Column shift lever to park position then removing the instrument panel knee bolster followed by driver seat removal together with the body hinge pillar trim panel. The first step involves removing Steering Column insulation and carpet while detaching the cable retainer bracket which secures the cable to the Steering Column. Next, unfasten the cable end from the Steering Column ball stud until both cable tangs depressing points can be accessed to pull out the cable from the Steering Column bracket. Prevent unnecessary cable twisting or bending during this procedure. The next step requires uninstallation of the range selector cable both from the support and from the floor panel's cable grommet. The technician should lift the vehicle while removing clips from the floor panel reinforcement followed by heat shield bolts of the range selector lever cable and then the heat shield. First place the transmission manual shaft lever into mechanical park mode then disconnect the range selector lever cable from the range select lever and take out the cable retainer and the cable from the cable bracket.
