Release Cable

The beginning step to replace the Hood Cable requires lifting and supporting the hood. Detach the cable from its position at the Hood Latch while removing it from the retaining point at the radiator support. The grommet along with its cable must be inserted through the gap behind the cab from the engine location. Begin by removing the left side hinge pillar trim panel from the body before unfastening its screws which hold the cable handle to the body and disconnect the handle. Continue by taking out the cable from the vehicle. Begin cable installation into the vehicle by passing it through from the cabin space into the engine compartment. Screw the cable handle onto the body after inserting the bulkhead grommet followed by securing it with screws. Put back the left side hinge pillar trim panel to the body first, then mount the cable at the radiator support retainer before connecting it to the Hood Latch before you close the hood.

Begin hood primary latch release cable replacement by supporting the hood while it's in an upward position. Disconnect the cable that operates the Hood Latch and the retainer that sticks to the radiator support. Drive the cable and grommet toward the cab while maintaining access through the engine compartment. Start by taking out the screws that hold the Hood Cable handle to the body and then remove the handle. After that detach the left side hinge pillar trim panel from the body. Finally remove the Hood Cable from inside your vehicle. The Hood Cable installation process starts by inserting vehicle cables back into place while feeding them from the interior through the engine bay. Start by mounting the grommet at the bulkhead section before affixing the handle between the body components and securing it with screws. Install the left side hinge pillar trim panel onto the body before mounting the Hood Cable to its retainer on the radiator support and then to the Hood Latch. Finally, close the hood.

Follow this repair sequence when changing the hood primary latch cable: raise the hood first then detach the cable from both the Hood Latch and radiator support retainer. Start by inserting the cable along with its grommet through the engine compartment into the cabin space. Then remove the left side hinge pillar trim panel from the body. Start by taking off the cable handle from the body by unscrewing the retaining screws. Take away the cable from the vehicle as the last step. Begin by connecting the cable to your vehicle before guiding it through the cabin until it reaches the engine bay for installation. Secure the cable grommet in the bulkhead before attaching the cable handle to the body using screws. First reinstall the left side hinge pillar trim panel before attaching the cable to the radiator support retainer then connect it to the Hood Latch and close the hood.

The first step to replace the Hood Cable is elevation and support of the hood before proceeding. Pull out the hood cable from its position at the hood latch point and from the radiator support retainer. Drive the cable along with its grommet through the engine compartment interior opening. Begin by detaching the left side hinge pillar trim panel from the body and subsequent removal of the screws holding the cable handle in place before removing the handle itself. Proceed to remove the cable from the vehicle next. Reinstall the cable starting from the engine compartment before guiding it through the cabin to the vehicle. First install the grommet within the bulkhead then fix the cable handle to the body frame structure while securing it through screws. The cable installation order includes reattaching the left side hinge pillar trim panel before mounting it to the retainer position on the radiator support and finally connecting it to the hood latch. Finally, close the hood.

Before starting the Hood Cable replacement procedure you must lift and support the hood. The installation requires removing the cable from both components situated on the radiator support retainer and the hood latch. Push both the grommet and cable down into the cab from the engine compartment opening. The body needs its left side hinge pillar trim panel detached to take out screws from the body that hold the cable handle before finally removing the handle. Remove the cable from the vehicle as the last step. To begin installation start by placing the cable back inside the vehicle and guide it from the cabin area through the engine compartment. Anchor the body with a cable handle after inserting the bulkhead grommet then fasten this assembly using screws. Place the left side hinge pillar trim panel back in position then join the cable to the retainer on the radiator support and to the hood latch before putting the hood into its closed position.

Remove the screws retaining the cable handle to the body, and then remove the handle from the body.

Raise and support the hood.
