    Q:
How to replace the left side camshaft on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process starts with removing the lower Intake Manifold followed by detachment of the left bank Camshaft cover. As a second step unfasten the Camshaft sensors with the Camshaft position actuator solenoids. To achieve camshafts in a neutral position for replacement use en 46111 (Crankshaft Rotation Socket) on the Crankshaft. Rotate the Crankshaft until flat surfaces of camshafts align parallel with the Camshaft cover rail. An open-end wrench should be used at the hex of the Camshaft to stop rotation and make the Camshaft position actuator bolt loose. The en-48313 (Timing Chain Retention Tool) allows you to secure both Timing Chain halves while tightening its nuts followed by marking critical components for correct reassembly. Remove first the Camshaft position actuator bolt before taking out the camshafts from their positions. The installation procedure encompasses marking the Camshaft position actuator with corresponding Timing Chain marks which guide the correct placement of camshafts to the cylinder head followed by Camshaft actuator assembly. Place the camshafts together with their bearing caps and uninstall the en-48313. An open-end wrench should be applied on the Camshaft hex to stop it from rotating when you install and tighten the Camshaft position actuators. The work procedure requires installing the intake Camshaft position actuator solenoids and the Camshaft sensors followed by the Crankshaft balancer and Camshaft cover and ending with the lower Intake Manifold installation.
