    Q:
How to service and repair the brake drum using the J 41013 Rotor/Drum Flange Resurfacing Kit on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use the J 41013 Resurfacing Kit (J 41013) to clean all rust from the brake drum flange during brake drum service. Keep the brake drums free from wear and corrosion issues by rejecting their remake as a repair solution. Only repair the brake drum surface when extensive wear marks and brake vibrations demand new parts because of drum shape and material issues. Use a digital gauge to check the largest brake drum diameter; when the results surpass refinish limits you must replace the drum rather than fixing it. Follow brake lathe operating instructions for the manufacturer to refinish the brake drum correctly for good braking performance. After machining make a consistent braking surface with 120 grit sandpaper of aluminum oxide then remove brake parts debris using GM P/N 12377981 cleaner. You need to set the wheel nuts to their proper torque level for solid brake performance and protected wheel discs.
