    Q:
How to replace the front coil springs on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The required steps to replace the front Coil Springs are raising and supporting the vehicle, removing the engine protection shield if installed, de-mounting the tire and wheel assembly. Then, take away the shock absorber and the front stabilizer shaft link. Mount the coil spring compressor adapter (J 23028-15) employing the outboard locating tab and fix the holding hook onto the Control Arm, tightening the wing nuts in order to remove any free play. Safely fasten the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-A) to an appropriate transmission jack and lift to bring the yokes of j 23028-a at the same level with the notches of j 23028-15. Make use both tools with addition of the transmission jack to releive the spring tension from the lower Control Arm pivot bolts and remove the lower Control Arm pivot bolt, rear pivot bolt and front pivot bolt. Carefully drop the transmission jack to drop off load of the front coil spring, and pry off lower Control Arm by using a pry bar if needed to get the lower Control Arm out of place and remove the coil spring and insulator. For installation, position the coil spring and insulator on the lower Control Arm and lift the transmission jack to compress the front coil spring, and if it is necessary, position the lower Control Arm using a pry bar. Mount the front pivot bolt, rear pivot bolt, and lower Control Arm pivot nuts, which are to be tightened to 145nm (107 ft. Lbs.). Lower the jack and take off the coil spring compressor adapter (J 23028-15) from the control arms. Finally, reinstall front stabilizer shaft link, shock absorber, tire and wheel assembly, engine protection shield if equipped, and lower down the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the front coil springs on Chevrolet Suburban 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the front Coil Springs, raise and support the vehicle first. Stated differently, remove the engine protection shield, frame cross bar, tire and wheel assembly, shock absorber, and front stabilizer shaft link. Use the outboard locating tab (15 Series) and the inboard locating tab (25 Series) in order to install the coil spring remover and installer (J23028-15). Put an attachment of retaining hook to the Control Arm and adjust the wing nut till freeplay is reduced for both series. Position the coil spring remover and installer (J23028-01) securely to a suitable transmission jack, raise it so that the yokes found on j23028-01 are aligned with the notches found on j23028-15. Relieve spring tension from the lower Control Arm pivot bolts back by using the two tools and the transmission jack, then the nuts for the lower Control Arm pivot bolts 15 series, then the rear pivot bolt and the front pivot bolt then the same for the 25 self. Pry off the coil spring and lower the transmission jack slightly to unload the front coil spring. Then take off the coil spring and insulator. For installing, please mount the coil spring and insulator to the lower Control Arm, lift up the transmission jack to compress the spring, and use a pry bar to keep the lower Control Arm in place. Perform the installation of the front and rear pivot bolts for both series, then you perform the installation of the lower Control Arm pivot nuts by tightening them to 145 nm (107 ft. Lbs.). Pull the jack down and take off j23028-15 off the Control Arm. The front stabilizer shaft link, the shock absorber, and the tire and wheel assembly will have to be reinstalled. For the 25 series, replace the frame cross bar by tightening the nuts at 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) with the engine protection shield. Lastly, remove the safety stands and put the vehicle back down.

    Q:
How to Replace Coil Springs on Chevrolet Suburban 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the coil spring replacement process by lifting and stabilizing your vehicle then supporting the rear axle. Start by disconnecting any real time damping (RTD) sensor when present before removing the stabilizer shaft link retaining nut from the frame structure and the lower shock absorber nut and bolt from the rear axle. Unload the springs by lowering the rear axle to its maximum level before taking out both the coil spring and upper insulator. Installation starts with adding the coil spring followed by the upper insulator before elevating the rear axle. Screw and bolt the lower shock absorber retaining components to the rear axle while torqueing them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). To install the stabilizer shaft link to the frame use the retaining nut for attachment and apply torque to 65 nm (48 ft. Lbs.). After reconnecting the rtd sensor and removing the rear axle support you should lower the vehicle into position.
