How to replace the Rack and Pinion steering gear on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Rack And Pinion replacement process starts with vehicle elevation and support and positions a drain pan below the area. Start the replacement process by removing tires and wheels followed by outer tie rods retaining nuts removal with disposal of those nuts afterward. Drive a wedge between the joint and its attached part to stop seal damage during steering linkage joint detachment. Use the tie rod puller of steering linkage j24319-b to disconnect outer Steering Knuckle tie rods. Start by taking out the steering gear crossmember and then disconnect the lower intermediate shaft from the Rack And Pinion. To access the Rack And Pinion hose assembly and its removal you must first disconnect it from the Rack And Pinion retaining bolt. The vehicle still needs to be supported while removing all bolts from the Rack And Pinion to extract it. Begin installation by putting the outer tie rods into position followed by safely returning the Rack And Pinion into the vehicle. The Rack And Pinion mounting bolts must be tightened to 110 n.m (81 lb ft). Secure the Rack And Pinion hose assembly to the Rack And Pinion by fastening the retaining bolt to a torque of 12 n.m (106 lb in). After securing the lower intermediate shaft to the Rack And Pinion, install the steering gear crossmember before reconnecting the outer tie rods to steering knuckles by torqueing retaining nuts to 60 n.m (44 lb ft). After reinstalling the tires and wheels pull out the drain pan while lowering the vehicle to perform Rack And Pinion system bleeding. Front toe adjustment needs to occur only after replacing a tie rod end or Rack And Pinion. Finally, lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to Replace the Front Rack and Pinion on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement of Rack And Pinion begins with vehicle lifting while using proper support and positioning a drain pan below. First remove tires and wheels from the vehicle and afterward remove outer tie rods retaining nuts. You need the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J24319-B) to separate the outer tie rods from their Steering Knuckle attachment points. Start by taking out the steering rack crossmember then disconnect the lower intermediate shaft from the Rack And Pinion. The Rack And Pinion's hose assembly can be detached when we remove its retaining bolt alongside the assembly itself. Install rack support and remove all mounting bolts before securing the rack out of the vehicle. Finally put the Rack And Pinion in place then install the outer tie rods. The Rack And Pinion mounting bolts need tightening to 110 nm (81 ft. Lbs.). Slowly attach the Rack And Pinion hose assembly to the rack by screwing in the retaining bolt until it reaches 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) torque. The Rack And Pinion receives the lower intermediate shaft and the steering rack crossmember gets reinstalled before securing outer tie rods to steering knuckles through retaining nuts at 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). After tire and wheel reinstallation you must remove the drain pan then put the vehicle back down before bleeding the Rack And Pinion system and conducting front toe adjustment.

    Q:
How to replace the rack and pinion on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for Rack And Pinion on 2004-2006 chevrolet colorado models, 2004-2006 gmc canyon and 2006 hummer h3 requires vehicle lift support along with front tire removal, wheel removal and any present engine protection shield. Remove the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle then position a drain pan beneath the Power Steering Hose assembly before disconnecting it from the Rack And Pinion. Unbolt the coupler clamp that connects the intermediate shaft to the Rack And Pinion and disconnect both components. First, handle the front carrier by placing support. Next, remove the vertical mounting nuts, washers, and bolts from the Rack And Pinion. Additionally, complete 4wd procedures by supporting the front carrier while removing driver's side mounting bracket-to-frame bolts. After moving the left-hand side of the front carrier sufficiently to allow Rack And Pinion removal you should detach the Rack And Pinion horizontal mounting nuts and washers along with bolts and right-hand isolator bracket. During 2wd model repairs you should first remove the crossmember before extracting the Rack And Pinion from the vehicle. First position the Rack And Pinion within the vehicle while following with an installation of the right-hand isolator bracket. Start by loose-mounting the Rack And Pinion horizontal mounting nuts, washers and bolts then install the driver's side carrier mounting bracket-to-frame bolts using a torque of 152 n.m (112 lb-ft) for 4wd vehicles. Install the crossmember into 2wd models and wire the Rack And Pinion vertical mounting nuts, washers, and bolts while tightening the long bolts to 130 n.m (96 lb-ft) then slowly tighten the isolator clamp bolts to 100 n.m (74 lb-ft). Install the intermediate shaft to the Rack And Pinion while also installing the coupler clamp bolt to the intermediate shaft. Engine protection shields should be installed if present while connecting the Power Steering Hose assembly to the Rack And Pinion followed by attachment of the outer Tie Rod End to the Steering Knuckle. The installation process requires front tire assembly, wheel assembly reinstallation followed by vehicle lowering, power steering system bleeding, and wheel alignment verification.
