    Q:
How to Service and Repair Brake Lines Using the J 45405 Brake Line Flaring Kit on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use the J 45405 Brake Pipe Flaring Kit (J 45405) to service brake pipes with double-walled steel brake pipe and avoid brake system failure. Check the part of the brake pipe needing replacement and free it from its retainers if necessary. For brake pipe sectioning pick the right spot away from bends and mount points before measuring the required length for replacement which includes these flaring measurements 6.35 mm (0.250 inch) for 4.76 mm (3/16 inch) pipe and 9.50 mm (0.374 inch) for 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) pipe. Make straight cuts with the pipe cutter supplied in J 45405 tool. Use the coating stripping tool at the kit to remove nylon cover from the next-to-flare end. Keep the metal unaffected as you select the correct tool blade. Chamfer both the interior and exterior of the pipe using the de-burring tool from J 45405 and attach the tube nuts on the brake line. Remove dust and debris from the brake pipe and die clamp J 45405. Turn down the die screw and store the proper die set inside the die cage. Place the completed end of the pipe into the dies' backside until it fits properly. After that, screw down the clamping device. Insert the proper forming mandrel into the J 45405 tool then depress its lever to form the flare before replacing the finishing cone to repeat the process. Examine the flare for right shape and size after opening the die clamping bolt. Sought-after dimensions are 6.92 mm (0.272 inch) for 4.76 mm (3/16 inch) pipe and 8.92 mm (0.351 inch) for 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) pipe diameter. Use a suitable brake pipe bending tool to shape the new part before installing it properly with its components. Attach the pipe to retainers and finish the hydraulic brake service. Start the engine to search for leaks during brake application.

    Q:
How to replace the rear brake line on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the rear brake hose start with vehicle elevation and tire removal before proceeding. Free the brake hose from all earth and foreign items. Position the back up wrench on the hose fitting to detach the brake pipe from the brake hose. Afterward, install protective caps. Detach the brake hose retaining clip from its bracket then take out the jounce hose from the mounting bracket by placing rubber caps or plugs over the brake pipe ends to prevent fluid loss and debris. Take out the brake hose to caliper bolt and dispose of the 2 copper brake hose gaskets that may be glued to either the brake caliper or brake hose end. Place two new brake hose copper gaskets and install the brake hose bolt to the Brake Line. Insert the brake hose to caliper bolt using new washers and tighten the bolt to 44 n.m (32 lb ft) while verifying that the hose lies straight without touching suspension elements. Insert the brake hose into its bracket and take off the rubber cover from the brake pipe's exposed end. Tighten both components together with a wrench but keep the hose fitting and pipe straight when tightening up to 25 n.m. The brake hose retaining clip should go onto its bracket at the hose mounting position while keeping the hose away from all suspension components; if contact happens normalize the hardware and fix the issue. End the process by emptying the hydraulic brake system fluids while putting the vehicle down.

    Q:
How to service and repair the brake line using the Brake Line Flaring Kit (J45405) on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
For brake pipe repairs use J45405 Brake Pipe Flaring Kit while observing brake fluid hazard requirements. Use double-walled steel brake pipe replacements to avoid failure and install the brake lines with right fasteners and routing methods. Choose a suitable position on the brake pipe for the J45405 tool that gives enough space around bends and mounting points. Take the exact measurement for the replacement pipe plus its required flare extensions then cut the end of the pipe square. You can cut the brake pipe with the tools from J46405 and take it away from your vehicle. Choose the right brake pipe diameter and tube nuts and use the coating stripping tool J45405 to peel off its nylon covering at the flaring end. Then make sure all nylon residue is gone. Use the de-burring tool included in the J45405 to smooth the edges of both brake.pipe ends before attaching tube nuts into the prepared pipe ends. Clean the brake pipe properly and loosen the J45405 clamp screw for further processing. Connect the chosen die set to the J45405 and put the readied end of the pipe into it to start the flare forming process. Check the flare's shape following construction and resize the new pipe using the proper brake pipe bending device before attaching it to the vehicle with fitting units. End the project by connecting the brake pipe to retainer parts then release air from the braking system when you start the engine and test the brakes.

    Q:
How to Replace a Rear Brake Line (Jounce) Safely and Effectively on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by lifting and sustaining the vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel unit today. Pressurize the brake system to clean all debris away from the brake hose and brake pipe fittings. Use a back up wrench at one end of the hose to separate the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose before plugging the pipe. Unclip the brake hose from its mounting bracket and remove the jounce hose. Before pulling out, seal the open brake pipe fittings with rubber caps to stop fluid loss and deterioration. Then free the brake hose attachment bolt from the brake caliper to take out 2 stuck copper gaskets from either the caliper housing or brake hose end. Put two new copper brake hose gaskets and bolt together into the brake hose end. After that, fit the brake hose back to the caliper bolt by attaching two pieces of new washer onto the caliper. Tighten the bolt to 44 n.m (32 lb ft) torque with the brake hose kept straight and away from suspension parts. Fix the brake hose on its bracket and take off the rubber cap from the brake pipe fitting. Use a back up wrench to attach the brake fitting to the hose while twisting it to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) without hurting either part. Attach the brake hose retaining clip to its bracket before inspecting if the hose stays away from all suspension components. Afterward, complete the brake system bleed and return the vehicle to the ground.

    Q:
How to replace the rear brake line from the frame to the axle on GMC Savana 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the rear brake hose you need to raise your vehicle and support it properly before removing its tire and wheel assembly. Remove all dust and debris from both brake hose and pipe connections. Put a back up wrench on the brake pipe fitting to disconnect it from the brake hose while capping the pipe fitting with a suitable plug. Take out the brake hose retention clip from both its bracket and mounting points while also taking off the jounce hose from its bracket. Also install protective caps to prevent brake fluid exit or contamination. Remove and discard the 2 stuck copper gaskets from the brake caliper and brake hose ends before removing the brake hose to caliper bolt. Install 2 newly assembled copper brake hose gaskets with the brake hose bolt onto the brake hose setup. Feed the brake hose through the caliper bolt assembly with its new washers before tightening the bolt to 44 nm while ensuring the hose keeps away from all suspension parts. Fit the brake hose to the bracket, take off the rubber cap from the brake pipe end, and screw the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose until it reaches 25 nm torque using a back up wrench on the hose fitting. Keep the brake bracket and visible pipe straight. Put the brake hose retaining clip back on its bracket then examine whether the hose touches suspension parts. Complete brake system bleeding before letting the vehicle down.
