The replacement of the front door Window Regulator starts by taking out both the front door trim panel and the front door water deflector. When removing window regulators the door should be stabilized by using cloth-backed body tape placed from the window across the top edge of the door opening. Mark the spring with a marker or grease pencil while also disconnecting the wiring harness from the regulator motor. This will help during re-installation. The door module coil spring tool (J 38864) enables spring tension release allowing removal of the power Window Motor from the lock module and regulator uninstallation. The installation process requires users to position the regulator on the lock module, apply lubrication to the motor drive gear and regulator sector teeth before reattaching the power Window Motor to the lock module with correct counterbalance spring tension specified by the marked line. After using the door module coil spring tool (J 38864) to adjust spring tension, reattach the wiring harness to the regulator motor before placing on the front door water deflector and front door trim panel.

The first step for front side door Window Regulator replacement requires using tools that include the door module coil spring tool (J 38864). Start the procedure by taking out the front door trim panel and front door water deflector. The flat-bladed tool allows you to press retaining tabs for front door window release from the sash and the application of cloth-backed body tape above the door for holding the window while removing the regulator. Before removal of the regulator motor wiring harness it is essential to place a marker or grease pencil line on the spring then disconnect the wires. This marking will help during reinstallation. To release tension from the regulator spring use the door module coil spring tool (J 38864) before unsnapping the power Window Motor from the lock module. You must first turn the window counterbalance spring stud to the left in a counterclockwise direction and remove it from the module before taking out the regulator from the lock module. Complete installation by attaching the regulator to the lock module followed by lubricating both the motor drive gear and regulator sector teeth after installing the window counterbalance spring stud with a 1/4 turn for locking position. Secure the power Window Motor to its position on the lock module by placing the marked line at the correct point while aligning it for proper pre-tension of the counterbalance spring. Open the window until the spring tension is set by using the door module coil spring tool (J 38864) then plug in the wiring harness to the regulator motor. Following the removal of tape from the door glass experts should position the glass before sliding the window sash onto the door glass and completing the installation by replacing both the front door water deflector and front door trim panel.

Reinstall the right side I/P insulator and reconnect the negative battery cable.

Apply cloth-backed body tape over the top of the door.

Use the Door Module Coil Spring Tool (J 38864) again to install the spring tension.

Ensure the battery is fully charged, the ignition switch is in the ON position, the data link connector (DLC) is accessible, and all disconnected modules and devices are reconnected.
