    Begin replacement by taking off the trim panel then unscrewing both bolts of the latch assembly cover. Additionally, withdraw the latch assembly seal before proceeding. Identify the latch assembly spot on the liftgate and unscrew its bolts to take out the entire assembly from the gate. Place both the latch assembly and seal onto the liftgate and position them according to the marks on the inner metal panel. Fasten the lock rods back to the latch system while keeping the fastener notice in service precautions in mind. Fasten the latch assembly bolts until you reach exactly 15 n.m of torque. Insert the latch assembly cover while keeping both gates shut for correct positioning then bolt the cover to the liftgate. Tighten cover bolts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Finally, reinstall the trim panel.

    Lower the endgate and take off the bolts that secure the handle or you can remove them first, then in order to install the new latch, raise the endgate and install the new latch then re-install the bolts until they are tight. Pry off the handle bezel gently while prying on the upper snap-in tabs and separate the linkage rods. Lower and support the endgate, then remove the cables from the side panel cable retainer bolts and the bolt the latch assembly which is stretched holds up. Disconnect the linkage rod and retract the latch assembly from the endgate. For installation, connect the linkage rod to the latch assembly installing the latch assembly onto the vehicle and make sure to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Mount the latch assembly bolts and tighten them to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Attach the cables at each side of the endgate to the side panel cable retainer bolts, link the linkage rods, lift the end gate, install the end gate handle bezel, and lastly tighten the handle bolts to 25N m (18 lb ft).
