    Q:
What Tools and Steps Are Required to Service and Repair the Coolant Pipe for Replacing the Radiator Surge Tank Inlet on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
For servicing and repairing the Coolant Reservoir, in particular, to replace the surge tank inlet hose/pipe of the radiator, the following tool will be needed: hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Start with the removal of the surge tank cap while exercising care since the coolant temperature inside the radiator may be higher than the boiling point at atmospheric pressure hence it can be explosive boiling which may cause severe burns. Next, move the surge tank inlet hose clamp with the help of the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and take the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the underhood junction block bracket, then remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Unclip the surge tank inlet hose from the Fuel Rail and again using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) before repositioning the hose clamp on the hose under the hose before taking it away from the engine. For installation, first install surge tank inlet hose to the engine, and secure using the repositioned hose clamp with the help of the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Cut the surge tank inlet hose onto the Fuel Rail, then install the air cleaner outlet resonator along with clipping the surge tank inlet hose onto the underhood junction block bracket. Lastly, connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank and fix it using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185), and fill the cooling system if necessary.
