Coil Spring, Rear

The first step before coil spring replacement in the rear suspension includes vehicle raise and support followed by axle support. When the system has an esc sensor it needs to be disconnected. Start by taking off the stabilizer shaft link retaining nut from the frame structure followed by the lower shock absorber nut and bolt from the rear axle compartment. Unload the rear axle by lowering it until the springs reach their natural position while documenting the spring directionality. Take out the coil spring as well as the upper insulator. Placing the coil spring together with the upper insulator should proceed the rear axle lift. Insert the lower shock absorber retaining bolt and nut to the rear axle before attaching the stabilizer shaft link to its frame location. The vehicle requires disconnecting any esc sensors while the installer removes the rear axle support and conducts the vehicle lowering procedure.

A vehicle should first be raised and supported during which time operators should support the rear axle so they can replace the coil spring in the rear suspension system. Tear down the electronic suspension control (ESC) sensor systems if your car comes with this equipment. Start by removing the frame mount nut that retains the stabilizer shaft link followed by removing the lower shock absorber nut and bolt from the rear axle. Mark the Coil Springs' position before dropping the rear axle down to eliminate spring tension. Record their directional characteristics for reference. Before installing or removing the coil spring and upper insulator you must disconnect both parts. To start installation begin by setting the coil spring and upper insulator in place and then elevate the rear axle. First insert the lower shock absorber retaining nut and bolt to the rear axle before attaching the stabilizer shaft link to the frame. Continue by reinstalling the esc sensor (if present) and afterward remove the rear axle support. Lower the car.

Begin by supporting and lifting the vehicle then support the rear axle. First disconnect the esc sensor if present before removing the stabilizer shaft link retaining nut from its frame position alongside removing the lower Shock Absorber nut and bolt from the axle. After lowering the rear axle to unload the springs record the direction of spring placement because spring orientation matters then detach the coil spring and upper insulator. Begin by placing the coil spring with the upper insulator and subsequently lift the rear axle into position. Secure the lower Shock Absorber retaining nut and bolt to the rear axle with torque setting at 95 n.m (70 lb ft). Screw in the stabilizer shaft link to the frame while securing it with the retaining nut then torque this nut to 75 n.m (55 lb ft). Resume esc sensor installation when present before taking away the rear axle support and lowering the vehicle.

The first step to replace the rear suspension coil spring requires vehicle lift support and support for the rear axle. Discard the old shock absorber nut and replace it with a new one.
