Fuel Pressure Regulator

The first step of Fuel Pressure Regulator maintenance requires users to take off the engine sight shield then reduce fuel system pressure. Unplug the vacuum line of the Fuel Pressure Regulator and remove all dirt from the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer area and its adjacent surroundings. Take out the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer first and put it on the workbench followed by removal of the Fuel Pressure Regulator itself. The maintenance process demands the complete removal of back up ring as well as regulator seal o-ring together with regulator filter and regulator seal o-ring from the fuel rail system. Select the correct new Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer that includes tabs for the straight vacuum port retainers but the angle vacuum port retainer requires no tabs between installation steps. To install the back up ring along with the regulator seal o-ring , regulator filter and regulator seal o-ring onto the Fuel Pressure Regulator, lubricate all o-rings (11, 13) with clean engine oil before inserting the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Reinstallation of the Fuel Pressure Regulator requires both brand-new o-rings and a new retaining clip. The next step includes mounting the new Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer and refitting the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose before securing the fuel filler cap. To perform a leak inspection you must start the ignition system with the engine inactive for 2 seconds followed by engine shutdown for 10 seconds before repetition of the first step without engine activity. Investigate for fuel leakage at this point. The final step includes replacing the engine sight shield.

The Fuel Pressure Regulator service requires precise execution because the system contains three distinct regulator types and Fuel Rail designs which have distinctive receiving ports and particular retaining clips that cannot be exchanged. Start the procedure by eliminating pressure from the fuel system before dealing with the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose and thoroughly cleaning the retainer surrounding area. You must pull out both the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer and the Fuel Pressure Regulator from the Fuel Rail while verifying that the back up ring and regulator seal o-ring together with the regulator filter and regulator seal o-ring remain outside of the Fuel Rail. The Fuel Pressure Regulator requires installation of back up ring and regulator seal o-ring followed by a regulator filter and another regulator seal o-ring. Before this installation, apply clean engine oil to o-rings (11, 13). It is crucial to install fresh o-rings together with a new retaining clip when reinstalling the component. Secure the new retainer for the Fuel Pressure Regulator and restore both the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose and reinstall the fuel fill cap with negative Battery Cable connection. A leak check requires activating the ignition while leaving the engine off for two seconds before switching it off for ten seconds and repeating the procedure with the ignition on and engine off for leak inspection.

The first step to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator requires removal of the upper Intake Manifold before the retaining clip of the Fuel Pressure Regulator can be extracted. Using a shop towel to minimize fuel spillage you should twist and pull the Fuel Pressure Regulator from its housing. After reconnecting the negative Battery Cable you should tighten the fuel fill cap. End the procedure by testing for fuel leaks through a diagnostic process of turning ignition on for 2 seconds then off for 10 seconds before turning it on again. Check that no leaks occur during this test.

A service or repair operation on the Fuel Pressure Regulator requires first draining the fuel system pressure from the system. You should disconnect the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum line before cleaning the surrounding retainer area as well as the regulator retainer itself from any dirt. The last installation step should be the fuel injector sight shield.

Service and repair of the Fuel Pressure Regulator must first start with engine sight shield removal. Before starting service you must first remove pressure from the fuel system then disconnect the vacuum line of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Before the removal of the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer and Fuel Pressure Regulator from the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing it is essential to clean surrounding surface areas along with the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer. Start by fitting the back up ring onto the Fuel Pressure Regulator and then add the new large o-ring before completing with installation of the regulator filter. Put fresh small o-ring on the Fuel Pressure Regulator before applying clean engine oil to both o-rings. The Fuel Pressure Regulator should be inserted into the regulator housing of the Fuel Rail as you also install a fresh Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer. After reconnecting both connections of Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum line and negative Battery Cable install the fuel filler cap while tightening it. Turn the ignition on for two seconds before you turn it off for ten seconds and another two-second turn of the ignition for a fuel leak inspection. Reposition the engine sight shield as the last step of the process.

Install a new small O-ring on the fuel pressure regulator and lubricate both the large and small O-rings with clean engine oil.

Remove the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose and clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator retainer and surrounding area.
