Camshaft Position Sensor

Service and repair of the Camshaft Position Sensor starts with removing the A/C accumulator tube alongside the surge tank outlet hose and camshaft sensor electrical connector. The first step requires removing the camshaft retaining bolt before proceeding with the camshaft sensor removal. Check the camshaft sensor O-ring for damage before installation because damage requires replacement. Apply engine oil on the camshaft O-ring before installing the camshaft sensor and retaining bolt which should be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The first step is to reconnect the camshaft sensor electrical connector and afterward install the surge tank outlet hose and the A/C accumulator tube. Check for any engine oil leaks from the camshaft sensor by operating the vehicle.

The Camshaft Position Sensor service requires step one to detach electrical connections and remove the bolt but step two is sensor extraction. A thorough examination of the camshaft sensor O-ring for damage or wear shall happen before installation since a replacement may be needed. The O-ring needs engine oil lubrication followed by mounting and bolting the camshaft sensor using 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque. Connect the electrical connector and start the engine operation to verify potential camshaft sensor oil leakage.

You should begin camshaft position sensor servicing by disconnecting its electrical connector and afterward removing the camshaft retaining bolt along with the sensor itself. Inspection of the camshaft sensor O-ring should take place before installation where necessary replacements can be made to prevent damage. Apply engine oil to the O-ring for proper sealing purposes. After installation of the electrical connector begin the engine to verify that the camshaft sensor area shows no signs of oil leakage.

Install the camshaft sensor and secure it with the retaining bolt.

Install the camshaft sensor and the retaining bolt, tightening it to a specification of 8-11 N.m (70-100 lb in).

Operate the engine and check the camshaft sensor for any engine oil leaks.

Disconnect the camshaft sensor electrical connector and remove the camshaft retaining bolt before taking out the camshaft sensor.

Install the camshaft sensor and retaining bolt, ensuring to tighten the bolt to a specification of 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Reconnect the camshaft sensor electrical connector, start the engine, and check for any oil leaks around the camshaft sensor.

Replace the O-ring.

Tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
