Before you replace the Fuel Injector or Fuel Rail you must note down the 8-digit identification number on the Fuel Rail because it will help with service requirements. The correct placement of black and brown o-rings is essential to reduce fuel leak risks and prevent injury because black rings must face up while the lower opening should have brown rings installed despite their equivalent size. Service technicians must insert caps onto the fittings along with plugging all holes to stop fuel system contamination. Engine oil can get contaminated with fuel anytime leaking fuel injectors occur. Start by removing all electrical connectors and taking off the fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail before proceeding to uninstall the upper Intake Manifold. First dismantle the Fuel Rail by beginning with the disconnect of the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector and the removal of Fuel Rail bolts which allows access to take out the Fuel Rail. Before disposal of o-rings from the spray tip end of each injector maintain safe handling of electrical connector pins and nozzles and refrain from it being submerged in cleaner solutions. Remove the Fuel Injector retaining clip using necessary steps before actually taking out the Fuel Injector and setting aside the upper o-ring . The o-ring replacement process starts with new o-ring installation during assembly while using the exact part number to acquire replacements. Install new upper o-rings on the Fuel Injector by applying clean engine oil first before placing the Fuel Injector on the Fuel Rail followed by the Fuel Injector retaining clip if required. Service the electrical connectors alongside the o-rings with extreme caution while using plugs to protect Fuel Rail ports from contaminants. Using compressed air or solvent baths on the Fuel Rail assembly will cause damage thus should be avoided. Install the Fuel Rail assembly into the Intake Manifold by making a slight tilting motion to position the injectors while applying clean engine oil to the new lower injector o-rings. The installation process requires tightening the Fuel Rail bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in) while connecting the cmp sensor electrical connector followed by bracket mounting onto the Intake Manifold and securing the bracket bolt at 8 n.m (71 lb in). End the installation process by setting the upper Intake Manifold in position then connect any remaining electrical connectors before joining the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail. The inspection for fuel leaks requires turning the ignition on for 2 seconds followed by a 10-second shutdown period and another 2-second ignition turn-on for leak detection.

Fittings need to be capped down and holes need plugging to avoid service-contaminating agents. Engine oil will suffer fuel contamination whenever fuel injectors leak. First remove the fuel pipe from the Fuel Rail before separating all connecting wires. Following removal of the upper Intake Manifold you should take out its supporting Fuel Injector harness connector bracket bolt and disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector. To start service work take away first the Fuel Rail bolts then the Fuel Rail and discard o-rings at the end of each injector spray tip with caution towards electrical connector pins and nozzles. The operation needs the Fuel Injector retaining clip and also requires removal of the Fuel Injector for future disposal together with the upper o-ring. Installation of new o-ring seals should be performed instead of using repeated o-ring seals. Empty the new injector o-rings of clean engine oil before installing the new upper o-ring followed by the Fuel Injector to the Fuel Rail if necessary with the Fuel Injector retaining clip. When working with fuel system components always take precautions to protect against contamination by plugging the ports of the Fuel Rail. As well avoid cleaning with compressed air or solvent baths for such components. Use engine oil to lubricate the new lower injector o-rings before placing the Fuel Rail assembly into the Intake Manifold during its installation procedure while slightly tilting the rail to fit the injectors. Install the Fuel Rail bolts with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque setting while reconnecting the cmp sensor electrical connector and installing the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket to the Intake Manifold before bolting it with 8 n.m (71 lb in). After reinstalling the upper Intake Manifold connect all remaining electrical connectors along with attaching the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail. A final inspection should be conducted by enabling the ignition for 2 seconds followed by disabling it for 10 seconds before enabling it again to check for fluid leakages.

Install the fuel injector back into the fuel rail and secure it with the retaining clip.

Carefully remove the fuel injector upper O-ring and the lower O-ring, ensuring not to damage the electrical connector pins or nozzles.

First, remove the fuel rail.

Reinstall the fuel rail.
