Heat Shield, Passenger Side

The replacement of the Exhaust Heat Shield for the center bearing begins by supporting the vehicle during elevation. Detach the bolts which fasten the center bearing heat shield to its mounting location on the center bearing. Once the heat shield is tilted to one side you can gently pull it free from the body and Drive Shaft center bearing while also avoiding the exhaust pipes before extraction. Install the new heat shield by placing it between the car body and Drive Shaft center bearing and exhaust pipes so that holes on the shield match those on the bearing. Catch the center bearing heat shield bolts in position through the center bearing before torquing them to 8 nm (71 lb in). Finally, lower the vehicle.

First, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and then take off the heat shield.

Position the exhaust manifold heat shield and install the bolts.

Ensure the holes in the heat shield align with those in the center bearing.

Lower the vehicle.

Install the new exhaust manifold heat shield and secure it by installing the bolts.

Install the bolts securing the center bearing heat shield to the center bearing.

Lower the vehicle.

First, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Tilt the heat shield to either side and slide it out from between the body, the drive shaft center bearing, and the exhaust pipes.

Ensure it is properly positioned before securing it with the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Lower the vehicle.

Install the J 42640 (Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin) to the steering column.
