The first step to replace the Exhaust Heat Shield for the center bearing is to lift and stabilize the vehicle. Start by removing the bolts that maintain the center bearing heat shield to the center bearing. Complete the center bearing heat shield removal by moving it in between body, Drive Shaft center bearing and exhaust pipes before taking it out of the vehicle. To install the heat shield you should position it between the body, the Drive Shaft center bearing, and exhaust pipes with the holes on both components properly aligned. Secure the center bearing heat shield bolts to the center bearing while tightening them to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) before lowering the vehicle.
