Spark Plug

You must start the Spark Plug replacement process by taking off the Spark Plug Wires followed by loosening each Spark Plug 1 or 2 turns. Dust removal around the spark plugs should be done by brush or compressed air before extracting the plugs one at a time with the cylinders assigned to each Spark Plug clearly marked on a tray. After proper placement of each Spark Plug washer install the plugs while checking the gap between the electrodes for accuracy at 1.524mm (0.060 in). The technicians should perform hand-starter procedures on the spark plugs before tightening them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) for used heads while applying 20 n.m (15 lb ft) for new aluminum heads and 30 n.m (22 lb ft) for new iron heads. After installing the Spark Plug Wires put an end to the procedure.

Spark plugs require replacement by first removing electric wires and slightly loosening each plug installation by 1 or 2 turns. Before removing the spark plugs one by one the technician should clean dust from their surroundings using either a brush or air compressor and place each plug into a labeled tray according to the cylinder order. When inspecting the Spark Plug gap users must modify its placement to achieve 1.524 mm (0.060 inch). Start each Spark Plug by hand before tightening to 15 nm if using used heads or 20 nm for new aluminum heads while new iron heads need 30 nm torque. Reinstall all Spark Plug Wires before concluding.

The replacement process starts with wire removal then 1 or 2 turns of loosening on each Spark Plug. Begin the Spark Plug replacement by cleaning the surrounding area with either brushes or compressed air then consecutively remove each plug and label the tray according to cylinder sequence. The installation process of Spark Plug washers requires proper order and the Spark Plug gap needs to be checked for proper adjustment at 1.02 mm (0.04 in). Use hand tools to install spark plugs into their designated cylinders before tightening each one to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) for used heads and 20 n.m (15 lb ft) for new aluminum heads and 30 n.m (22 lb ft) for new iron heads. Install the Spark Plug Wires as the last step in the procedure.

For new aluminum heads, tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

Ensure each spark plug washer is properly positioned and inspect the spark plug gap, adjusting as necessary to meet the specification of 1.524 mm (0.060 in).
