In order to replace the Spark Plug wires at first one should disconnect a Spark Plug wire on each Spark Plug by twisting the boots a 1/2 turn before removal be sure to only pull on the boot or use a tool specifically designed for the task. Next, come off the Spark Plug wire from the Distributor. You twist the boot up 1 1/2 turn and only pull on the boot or use a tool. In the installation process, see that the boots are seated nicely by pushing them sideways as incorrect seating will result in wire core erosion, misfire engine, and interior damage. Mount the Spark Plug wires on the Distributor and then on each Spark Plug. Push sideways on each boot to examine for proper seating, reinstall any loose boots installed, and maintain proper wire routings to minimize radio ignition noise, crossfiring or shorting to ground. In addition, lubricate the new dielectric grease at the boot, which are used to cover Spark Plug wires or boots placed on the spark plugs.

To replace the ignition cable first disconnect the ignition cable from each Spark Plug by twisting the boots 1/2 turn before removing (remember to pull only on the boot or take a tool for this purpose). Next, unlatch the ignition cable from the Distributor, twisting each boot 1/2 turn and pulling on only the boot or using a tool. Principles of troubleshooting apply to all these cases. Troubleshooting principles are troubleshooting airflow integrity, troubleshooting electrical integrity, voltage integrity, ignition integrity, climatic integrity, and ground integrity. Mount the ignition cable at the Distributor and to each Spark Plug. Check that the cables are properly installed by pushing sideways on each boot to check for seating and reinstall any loose boots, as well as routing cables to maintain them to avoid radio ignition noise or cross firing or shorting to ground. Further, apply some new dielectric grease into the boot when ignition cables or boots are fitted to spark plugs.

To service and repair the Spark Plug wires, commence to disconnect the Spark Plug wire from each Spark Plug, twisting the boots 1/2 turn before removal, and to pull by only the boot or to pull by the use of a tool meant for removal for loaning the wire, otherwise pull out the wire from each Spark Plug. Next, remove the Spark Plug wire from the Distributor by twisting each Spark Plug boot 1/2 turn and pulling again only on the boot or use the tool that is designed for the purpose. For installation, start by installing the Spark Plug wires into the Distributor, and then connecting the Spark Plug wire to each Spark Plug. Check the installation of the wires by attempting to push them laterally to check the seating, reinstall loose boot, and make sure that the wire routings are maintained during servitude and followed strictly when the wires are disconnected or replaced coinciding it with improper routing which leads to radio ignition noise, plug crossfiring, and shorting of the leads to and with the ground. Also, whenever installing Spark Plug wires or boots, put fresh dielectric grease inside the boot.

Start the ignition cable replacement process by twisting each boot at the spark plugs a half turn and then removing it before using only the boot or an appropriate tool. After removing the ignition cable from its Distributor position perform a 1/2 turn boot twist then utilize either a tool or boot pull method to disconnect the seamless connection. When installing ignition cables start by connecting them to the Distributor while pushing sideways on each boot to prevent installation errors which could cause wire core erosion, engine misfire and internal damage. Set the ignition cable onto each Spark Plug for installation. Perform wire installation checks by pushing boot edges to the side while inspecting seat position and resetting loose connections to stop radio noise and ground shorting and crossfiring. When installing spark plugs or cables always apply fresh dielectric grease into the boot.

Begin the Spark Plug wire replacement process by removing the engine cover. Remove the Spark Plug wire by first twisting every wire 1/2 turn then pulling only on the boot area to detach it from each Spark Plug. Start wire removal from the Ignition Coil by applying 1/2-boot twist action followed by boot extraction only. When working with the square design melco(R) Spark Plug wire use a piece that measures 145 mm (5.70 in) from the wire seal to wire seal point while the round design delphi(R) needs one that measures 110 mm (4.30 in) between wire seal points. The ignition coils come from two manufacturers: the ignition coils from melco(R) (square design) and delphi(R) (round design) require unique Spark Plug Wires and respective mounting brackets called melco(R) (square design) coil mounting bracket and delphi(R) (round design) coil mounting bracket. Begin Spark Plug wire installation by connecting wires to the Ignition Coil followed by connecting wires to each Spark Plug. Verify proper boot installation by lightly pressing each side of the wire boot and correct any loose fittings. Finally, reinstall the engine cover.

New dielectric grease.

Apply new dielectric grease inside the boot whenever spark plug wires or boots are installed on the spark plugs.

Reinstall the engine cover.
