Throttle Body

Begin your service work on the Throttle Body by taking out the air cleaner assembly and removing the accelerator control and cruise control cables and vacuum hose. Begin by cutting the harness connectors of both the throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve beside separating the Throttle Body and vapor vent pipe's coolant hoses. To begin the Throttle Body repair remove its attaching nuts afterwards break free the Throttle Body while discarding the old gasket. You should clean the gasket contact areas with specific tools which prevent damage to the aluminum components. Strong solvents or brushing can damage the throttle plate's factory-sealed compound so avoid using cold immersion type cleaners on the Throttle Body. For cleaning heavy deposits use gm x-66a or gm p/n 1052626 spray cleaner and a shop towel while making sure to avoid solvent exposure of the tp sensor and iac valve. Secure the Throttle Body with its new gasket using attaching nuts at 10 n.m torque setting (89 lb in). The installation of the air cleaner assembly requires reconnecting coolant hoses with accelerator control cable followed by cruise control cable and tp sensor and iac valve electrical connectors and a vacuum hose to the Throttle Body. Examine throttle action while engine is powered off and next depress the pedal. To reset the iac valve follow this procedure: turn on the ignition for 10 seconds before turning off for 5 seconds then run the engine to check the idle speed.

Ensure they do not hold the throttle open.
