Put the fittings on tubing before flaring and remove the debris from pipes and tools using a de-burring tool. Fit the forming mandrel into the tool body then choose and mount the right-size collet in a vise. After placing the mandrel in position attach the forcing screw then spin the screw one complete turn to the left. Guide the clamping nut onto the brake pipe to the chosen collet position before using 19 mm (3/4 inch) remains for the tube end. Place the brake pipe end against the forming mandrel face of the tool body and fully tighten its clamping nut. When you reach bottom on the forcing screw turn it back one turn to prevent blowout. You can now access the finished flare by taking off the clamping nut from the tool body then removing both the clamping nut and collet. Finish producing the new pipe by shaping it to match the original design but segmenting moving parts with at least 3/4 inch space.
