2001 Cadillac Seville Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The first step for brake hose replacement involves lifting the vehicle for support before removing the tire and wheel assembly from the front. Secure a rubber cap or plug onto the brake pipe fitting's exposed end to stop fluid loss while cleaning away any dirt particles from both brake hose and fittings. Use a flat-bladed tool to detach the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose by removing the brake hose retainer. First remove both the brake hose from the bracket and the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt before extracting the brake hose from the caliper where you will discard any stuck copper brake hose gaskets. To avoid fluid loss during installation you should place a rubber plug into the brake caliper inlet bolt opening. Take out the brake hose by removing the bracket bolt from the strut assembly. Before fitting new brake caliper inlet bolt gaskets always remove the rubber plug protecting the inlet bolt hole. Place the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt through the new gaskets before mounting it to the brake caliper and tighten it to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Attach the brake hose to its bracket after inspecting for kinking or twisting before tightening the retainer. Connect the brake pipe fitting end to the brake hose while tightening until it reaches 15 nm torques (11 ft. Lbs. Of torque). Connect the brake hose bracket and bolt to its place on the strut assembly and secure the bolt by applying 9 nm (80 ft. Lbs.) of torque. You need to bleed the brake caliper through its bleeder screw while replacing the tire together with the wheel assembly then lowering the vehicle.
