First unfasten the coil cassette ground wire nut on the Cylinder Head and afterward remove the bolt which holds the front Exhaust Manifold pipe to the Cylinder Head. A replacement for the egr valve inlet pipe becomes necessary whenever it separates from the water crossover since its crush seal connection cannot be reused. The egr inlet pipe must be detached from the front Exhaust Manifold pipe while you remove both components from the left Exhaust Manifold along with the original front Exhaust Manifold pipe seal. The operation requires removal of both the Exhaust Manifold flange retainer along with the front Exhaust Manifold pipe. Start by positioning the retainer device together with a new front Exhaust Manifold pipe seal against the left Exhaust Manifold before securing the front Exhaust Manifold pipe through it. Use bolts (1, 3) to attach the front Exhaust Manifold pipe to its engine position while torquing the mounting bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Last, hand-start the inlet pipe nut of the front Exhaust Manifold to avoid cross threading before tightening it to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Place the transaxle assembly together with the rear Exhaust Manifold pipe before final installation. When attaching the egr inlet pipe nut to the front Exhaust Manifold pipe start it by hand to prevent cross-threading and tighten it to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). Finally, reinstall the transaxle assembly and the rear Exhaust Manifold pipe.
