A driver of a 3.4l engine should start by placing a drain pan under their vehicle and remove both power steering pressure lines extending from the pump to engine bracket. The power steering pressurization hose is accessible between the rocker arm cover and front of the dash mat in the engine compartment through which an 18-mm crow's foot line wrench with a 2-foot long 3/8-inch drive extension needs to be used. Aid the car by supporting it in position and separate the power steering pressure line from both clamps on the power steering gear then take the line outside of the truck. Position the new pressure line on the vehicle first and then tighten it to the power steering gear clamps before putting down the vehicle. The power steering gear gets its pressure line installed with a 2-foot 3/8-inch drive extension 18-mm crow's foot line wrench until the fitting torque reaches 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). The installation process requires fitting the pressure line to the engine retaining bracket along with the Power Steering Pump. A proper torque of 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) must be achieved on both fittings. The system requires fluid addition before completing a bleeding procedure to check for any fluid leakage.
