2001 Chevrolet Tracker Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: To remove the Brake Disc off the vehicle, remove two-thirds of the brake fluid from the master cylinder container using a siphon. Lift and support the vehicle then take off tire and wheel assembly. Put the c-clamp around the outer pad and caliper and then tighten it to the point where the piston reaches its bottom in its bore. The 2 mounting bolts and the caliper and caliper bracket must be removed as well as raise the caliper and caliper bracket and the brake pads from the disc while being careful not to allow the brake components to hang from the flexible brake hoses because it may get damaged. Suspend the caliper and caliper bracket with a wire so that there's no chance of hose damage. Take off the Brake Disc from the hub wheel; if necessary, run two 8mm bolts into the disc and tighten as would force the disc off the hub. To install, mount the new Brake Disc to the hub, according to fastener notice in service precautions. Position and tighten the caliper and caliper bracket, and hold them in place using the 2 mounting bolts, tightened to 85 nm (61.5 ft. Lbs.). Replace the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle, fill the master cylinder's reservoir, start the engine, and apply the Brake Pedal several times to settle the caliper piston.
