  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
    A: To replace the Engine cool down temperature (ECT) sensor, first OFF the ignition, and lift the vehicle. Follow vehicle lifting precautions. During engine service please differ operation of the testing piece at room temperature. For an indication of electronic control unit by linear expansion on these sensors, function test the sensor at room temperature, following it by incrementing or decrementing the temperature from the threshold then return to room temperature. It must be noted that the GM M-ready sensor was used for service analysis. Drain the engine coolant below the ECT sensor figure then lower the vehicle. Pinch the tab and pull the harness connector away from the ECT sensor, do it carefully not to cause any damage to it, as it can affect the fuel control system. Lead style threads of the new sensor with sealer, P/N 12346004 or equiv. Mount the ECT sensor and secure the vehicle to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Plug in the ECT sensor and top up the engine coolant. Make sure all replacement parts are the correct part number for the application and that any thread locking compounds, lubrication, corrosion inhibitors or sealant are utilized where specified as wrong applications can influence torque and a performance in the usage.
