2002 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: In order to service and repair the Crankshaft Position Sensor, first install a scan tool and read the powertrain control module dtcs; case if dtcs other than p1336 should be present, refer to the dtc list for more information. Choose the crankshaft position variation learn procedure from the scan tool and watch for the fuel cut-off for the engine. Follow the scan tool's instructions: need to lock the drive wheels, set the vehicle's parking brake, turn the ignition off and back on, press and hold the Brake Pedal down, start and idle the engine without the a/c on, put the transmission into park (A/T) or neutral (M/T). The scan tool will also be monitoring the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor activity, camshaft position (CMP) sensor activity and engine coolant temperature (ECT); in case any conditions apply, look into the relevant dtcs or run the engine idle until the coolant is at a suitable temperature. Turn on the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure on the scan tool and during the learn procedure, let off the throttle soon as the engine begins to decelerate and the engine control goes back to the operator. Gradually increase the speed of the engine to the observed rpm and let off the throttle when fuel cut-off is obtained. The "learn status" displayed in the scan tool should be: learned this ignition"; learned this ignition", if not and no new dtcs then check for engine symptom and if a dtc is set then refer to the dtc list. Finally, turn off the ignition after successfully completing the learn procedure for 30 seconds.
