2002 Chevrolet Venture Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2002 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To change the Thermostat, start by removing the air cleaner and duct assembly, then drain the coolant until it is under the Thermostat. Then, disconnect the crossover Exhaust Pipe and the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing. Remove the Thermostat Housing bolts and clear any sealer from the threads followed by the removal of Thermostat Housing along with gasket and Thermostat itself. Pre-clean the mating surfaces before the installation of the new Thermostat, followed by the Thermostat Housing and the gasket. Apply rtv sealer (GM P/N 1052366 or equivalent) to the threads of the Thermostat Housing bolts, then install them to tighten them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Refit the Radiator Hose to the Thermostat Housing and crossover Exhaust Pipe and reattach the air cleaner and duct assembly. Lastly, fill the cooling system and check for leaks and repair those found.
