2003 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The replacement of the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) requires the Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) and additional tools. Start your replacement by first removing the fuel injection sight shield then turning the ignition switch off. First remove the ho2s retaining clip from the bracket then disconnect the ho2s electrical connector tab from the retaining clip before taking out the electrical connector retainer. Use an Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) to extract the rear Oxygen Sensor while maintaining vehicle elevation. Avoiding installation difficulties requires removing oxygen sensors when engine temperatures reach above 48°c (120°F). Position the rear Oxygen Sensor into the rear Exhaust Manifold before tightening the threads with a special anti-seize compound; new service sensors already include this compound but reused sensors need additional coating with anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or equivalent. New service sensors arrive with the required anti-seize compound but reused sensors need an application of anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or equivalent material. Torque the rear ho2s to 41 n.m (30 lb ft) before lowering the vehicle and reattaching its electrical connector. Finish the installation by attaching the ho2s electrical connector tab to its bracket, installing the electrical connector retainer while also replacing the fuel injection sight shield.
