2003 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: Place the master cylinder mounting flange in the bench vise to work on it and expose the part of the primary Piston you need. Drain the master cylinder reservoir and remove its parts. Put suitable connections on master cylinder ports that join to the right brake male flare ends before attaching hoses. You should feed transparent hoses to these connections from the master cylinder reservoir. Place delco supreme 11 brake fluid (part numbers 12377967 and 992667) or a sealed equivalent dot-3 brake fluid in the reservoir until it reaches half its total capacity with both ends of the hoses submerged. Depress the primary Piston 25 mm (1 inch) with a smooth tool at least 3 times to watch fluid flow from the ports. While air leaves the primary and secondary pistons the needed force rises and Piston travel decreases. Repetitively press the primary Piston until fluid runs smoothly through the ports without showing air. Following the process slip out the reservoir hoses and replace the components before disconnecting the equipment with the hoses.
