  A: Begin Brake Master Cylinder overhauling by removing it from the vehicle then fastening the mounting flange in a vise bench while keeping the back side of the primary Piston visible. Find any damaged parts on the master cylinder reservoir before you remove its cap and diaphragm for inspection. Detach the master cylinder reservoir and press the primary Piston down with a comfortable round tool to remove its retainer parts from the cylinder bore. Seal all master cylinder ports before inserting low-pressure filtered air at the front port to separate the secondary Piston and its seal as well as the return spring. Throw away the main Piston unit, its retaining plate, and both seals from the back up Piston. Before assembly wipe the inside and outside of the master cylinder return spring and secondary Piston with denatured alcohol to prepare them for use. Also check for structural damage and replace the master cylinder if the parts show issues. Apply delco supreme ii brake fluid from p/n 12377967 (Canada uses P/N 992667) through non-lubricated filtered air until all overhaul parts inside the master cylinder bore, secondary Piston , return spring and secondary Piston have a thin film of lubricant. Add the lubricated new primary seal parts to the secondary Piston and install the new secondary seal. Next place the lubricated return spring with the assembly into the cylinder bore and put in the lubricated primary Piston components. Put in the top cover plate using a non-sharp tool to push down the primary Piston. Place the new Piston hold-down piece and mount the master cylinder reservoir back on top. Reconnect the lid and sealed part of the fluid reservoir before putting the cylinder unit into place.
